The Galaxy Radio account has been returned to its former home at McCann-
Erickson Bristol by the station’s new owner, Chrysalis.
The account had been dormant for more than a year following launch
advertising for the Bristol-based station in September last year. Now
Chrysalis is looking to inject fresh vigour into Galaxy with a TV and
poster campaign scheduled to begin early next year.
McCanns beat Golley Slater, Hall Harrison Cowley and JPH to win back the
account. The station broadcasts dance, classic and contemporary music
across Wales and the West Country to a potential audience of two million
people under the age of 35.
Chrysalis, the owner of Heart FM, called the pitch after acquiring
Bristol Channel Broadcasting, Galaxy’s holding company, for pounds 4.1
million in October.
Jon Jefferies, the McCanns Bristol managing director, said: ‘Galaxy’s
launch was one of the most successful for a regional station and
Chrysalis wants to maximise its potential.
‘Our brief is to make everyone aware of what sort of station Galaxy is.
There’s some confusion over the kind of music it plays. We’ll capitalise
on the fact that it’s young and lively and that people will stay with it
once they’ve tried it.’
