GGT has hired Stephen Whyte, a former group account director at Ammirati
Puris Lintas, to fill the new role of business development director.
Whyte, who was also one of the co-founders of the through-the-line shop,
Aviator, joins on 9 April with a brief to energise business development
at GGT. This has recently been reorganised under GGT’s managing
director, Grant Duncan. The post includes a seat on the partners’
Duncan called Whyte a ‘great catch’, and predicted he would initiate
‘intelligent, intriguing business development approaches - not hustling
or conference circuit glad-handing’. New business was previously handled
by Rosie Doggett, Duncan’s former joint deputy managing director, who
left the agency late last year.
Whyte first entered advertising through Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO,
joining as an account management trainee in 1985.
Four years later he left to set up Aviator with a former colleague, Mike
Turnbull, but left after a year to join Bruce Haines at Leagas Delaney.
In early 1993, Whyte moved on to join Still Price Lintas as a group
account director under Richard Hytner, the former chief executive. He
left the renamed Ammirati Puris Lintas last year, after differences with
the new management.
