Granada UK Broadcasting has poached Marc Sands from Howell Henry
Chaldecott Lury to be its first marketing director.
The 32-year-old Sands is an account director at Howell Henry, where he
works on the AA and Campbell’s Homepride Sauce business. At Granada he
will take over strategic responsibility for the link between audience
demands and the development of Granada’s and LWT’s programming
schedules.
The need to create a marketing role sprang out of the establishment of
Granada UK Broadcasting as an umbrella business for Granada, LWT and the
broadcaster’s sales operation, Laser Sales, earlier this year.
Sands, who is due to join Granada early in the new year, will report to
Mick Desmond, the deputy managing director of Granada UK Broadcasting
and the chief executive of Laser.
Desmond believes that the ability of ITV to maintain its market
leadership is dependent on the ability to match audience requirements
with advertiser needs.
‘Marc will play a key role in helping us manage the links between
Granada’s dominant programme supply to ITV and our successful
broadcasting operations,’ he said.
Sands added: ‘The chance to apply marketing values within such a dynamic
broadcasting environment was completely irresistible.’
