News Group Newspapers hires Corke to head digital sales

LONDON - News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The Sun and News of the World, has appointed Martin Corke as its head of digital sales.

Corke joins from Associated Northcliffe Digital, where he was responsible for ad sales across 60 websites, including dailymail.co.uk and thisislondon.co.uk.

At News Group, he will take responsibility for advertising, sponsorship, email and mobile revenues across thesun.co.uk, page3.com, and newsoftheworld.co.uk.

He replaces Darren Davidson, who left in October to join IPC as its digital advertising director.

Mark Chippendale, the media director at News Group, said: "Martin has strong digital publishing experience and we are delighted to have him on board. We are a multi-platform business and revenues for our internet and mobile platforms are growing all the time."

Giles Ivey, the former sales director at AOL UK, recently joined News Group's sister division Times Media in an equivalent role.
