- News International Digital Publishing is to relaunch its free internet service provider, currantbun.com, in an attempt to appeal to a more upmarket audience.
The service will be renamed bun.com and will carry a broader offering of content, including material from the Times and the Sunday Times as well as its existing Sun-based content.
The move comes as Kylie Sellick is named as the service's new marketing director. She takes over from Barnie Evans who left the company last month to join former currantbun.com chief Ellis Watson in an internet start-up venture.
The relaunch of currantbun is being backed by a £10m campaign through TBWA GGT Simons Palmer. The campaign is set on Australia's Surfer's Paradise beach and features a team of lifeguards who rescue struggling surfers from the sea, illustrating the line 'bun.com - where it's safe to surf'.
A CD-Rom allowing access to the site will now be available in Asda and Comet stores.
