The hundred best ads of all time are to appear together in a new video
being launched by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising.
Now That’s What I Call Advertising! Volume 1 is a collection of
favourite ads from the annals of world advertising.
Volkswagen has the most ads in the Top 100 list, with nine of its spots
appearing on the tape. Levi’s comes second with six ads, followed by
Heineken and Holsten Pils, each with five.
The commercials were selected from a list of personal favourites chosen
by creative directors at the top 20 agencies in London.
The final table was compiled by K Advertising, which came up with the
original idea for the video.
The full selection will be unveiled at a special IPA evening on 15
April, where the list will be discussed by a panel of top creatives,
including Tony Cox, the creative director of BMP DDB, Andrew Cracknell,
the chairman of Ammirati Puris Lintas, and Trevor Beattie, the creative
director of TBWA. The session will be chaired by K Advertising’s
creative director, Keith Courtney.
Courtney commented: ‘The final reel really is a tribute to the great ads
that have been done worldwide in the past few decades.’
Garry Lace, the chairman of the IPA Society - the social arm of the IPA
- and an account director at Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, said that the
evening was designed to ‘give people the opportunity to debate the
choice of ads with the creative directors on the panel - and challenge
the choices on the reel’.
