NEWS: ITV to take on LWT’s Morrison for major marketing position

ITV has brought its sales and broadcasting activities closer together by appointing Steve Morrison, the managing director of LWT, as the chairman of its newly rechristened Marketing Group.

ITV has brought its sales and broadcasting activities closer together by

appointing Steve Morrison, the managing director of LWT, as the chairman

of its newly rechristened Marketing Group.

The group, which replaces the Marketing Forum, will handle all ITV’s

marketing efforts as it gears up for a pounds 5 million push in 1996.

Morrison, who took on the dual roles of deputy chief executive of

Granada’s TV division and chairman of Laser Sales just two weeks ago,

replaces Andrew Quinn, who chaired the Marketing Forum as part of his

role as chairman of the ITV Network Centre, but who retired this year.

Senior sources within ITV said they expect Morrison, with his

responsibilities as a broadcaster, to take a more active role than

Quinn. ‘It’s his business we’re talking about,’ one said. It is believed

that in his new role at Laser, he has already been in to see a number of

media agencies.

Morrison will work alongside Martin Bowley, the managing director of

Carlton UK Sales, who takes on the deputy chairman position. Morrison

said he would also be recruiting a dedicated marketing manager to co-

ordinate the marketing and branding activities.
