Leagas Delaney has appointed a senior US adman to run its San Francisco

start-up, which it has confirmed will open for business in mid-June.

Jack Rooney, 38, is currently the senior vice-president at Foote Cone

Belding San Francisco and also worldwide account director on Levi’s. He

will take the title of managing director and will report directly to

Bruce Haines, Leagas Delaney’s chief

executive.

Rooney was appointed after visiting Leagas Delaney’s London offices two

weeks ago and meeting Haines and the agency’s creative director, Tim

Delaney.

Haines said: ‘This is a crucial appointment for us, and we have taken

our time to ensure that we get the right man. In Jack, we are confident

we have someone who will lead the San Francisco office to enormous

success.’

He added: ‘He is a sophisticated adman who meets our recruitment

criteria of being a zealot for great work, a good team leader and is a

very nice bloke to spend time with.’

Rooney’s appointment brings the number of staff in the new agency to

ten.

Haines said the San Francisco agency would pitch for domestic clients

and join the UK agency to work on international accounts.
