Barkers in Birmingham has been picked by Midland Main Line to handle the
pounds 1 million advertising launch of its brand identity and business
travel products.
Competitive pitches were made by four local agencies. MML’s account was
previously with another Birmingham agency, Freestyle.
A TV, press and poster campaign will appear in January to coincide with
the appearance of newly-liveried trains.
The Media Business Group will handle the TV and national press buying,
while Barkers’ own media department will buy local press.
Chris Wintle, the managing director of Barkers, said: ‘In our creative
work, the train takes off - making an analogy between the quality of
MML’s train service and the sort of service you expect on aeroplanes.’
Andrew Harvey, MML’s marketing director, said: ‘We looked for strategic
input, creativity and depth of resource. We will be launching a very
innovative approach to the business travel market.’
