Users of the Internet will be able to replay the goals scored in the

Euro ’96 football championships in the guise of animated screen-savers,

courtesy of a project developed by Vauxhall and Opel, the Lowe Group and

the Guardian.

The screen-savers will constitute an important part of the

www.eurosoccer.com site recently launched by the Euro ’96 sponsors,

Vauxhall and Opel (Campaign, 15 March).

The lure of a fresh screen-saver on each day of the tournament is

designed to make the site one of the most popular during the month-long

championships.

The site will also offer match reports and comments drawn from more than

16 newspapers across Europe, including the Guardian in the UK, Le Monde

and Liberation in France and La Stampa in Italy.

Mark Dickinson, the new-media development director at Lowe Howard-Spink,

said: ‘We are creating something completely new.’
