J. Walter Thompson Worldwide has poached Ammirati and Puris Lintas’s
worldwide creative director, Helayne Spivak, to become its chief
creative officer, North America, and joint worldwide creative officer.
Spivak, who integrated the creative departments of Ammirati and Puris
Lintas in New York, will oversee all creative campaigns for JWT’s North
American clients and for selected global brands.
She will report to Chris Jones, co-president and chief executive
officer-designate of the JWT Company, and work with the London-based
Allen Thomas, who is executive vice-president and worldwide creative
director for all other regions.
Spivak will be based in New York with a place on JWT’s worldwide board.
She will replace Jim Patterson, former co-worldwide director with Allen
Before gaining acclaim in her last managerial role, Spivak was a
respected copywriter in her own right, winning many awards, including
several Effies, Clios and Cannes advertising film festival lions. She
has worked for agencies such as Ally and Gargano, Hal Riney and Partners
and Young and Rubicam.
Spivak said: ‘Having been in the industry for nearly 20 years, I am very
aware of the depth and breadth of creative talent throughout JWT’s
global network. I am particularly excited to be working again with Susan
Gianinno, New York’s general manager, with whom I worked very closely at
