O&M appoints Mark Linaugh for new role of chief talent officer

Ogilvy & Mather has hired Mark Linaugh, Time's vice-president of human resources, to the new position of chief talent officer, working from its New York office.

He will report to O&M's worldwide chief executive, Shelly Lazarus, in New York, and will work across O&M's regions to manage, evaluate and develop talent. However, his arrival is not a prelude to a structural review of how the WPP network handles HR.

O&M's Europe, Africa and Middle East chief executive, Mike Walsh, said: "We want Mark to help us ensure our top global talent is focused on our most challenging opportunities. We are not building new infrastructure, or realigning HR reporting lines."

Linaugh leaves Time after three years, before which he was the vice-president of HR at Nortel Networks.

His appointment follows WPP's hiring of Beth Axelrod as its chief talent officer for the company in April 2002.
