- Ammirati Puris Lintas has appointed Andy McQuin to the dual role of regional director, Central and Eastern Europe, and chief executive officer of Ammirati Puris Lintas Hungary.
McQuin will sit on the agency's worldwide operating board and will report to Philip Palazzo, APL' president of international operations.
The appointment becomes effective on 15 June 1998 when McQuin moves to Budapest from Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide in London, where he is worldwide client director, SmithKline Beecham.
McQuin succeeds Dieter Lockemann as regional director who, after 34 years with Ammirati Puris Lintas, has announced his retirement.
As chief executive officer of APL Hungary, McQuin takes on Pierre-Emmanuel Maire's responsibilities. Maire moves to London in a newly created role on the worldwide Unilever team where he becomes responsible for laundry, personal wash and skincare categories, reporting directly to James Allman, multinational client director, Unilever.
According to Palazzo: "Andy is a player of the highest caliber who will play a major role in helping to build our clients' business in this key part of the world. His responsibility is to ensure that APL produces excellent communication for our clients' brands in Hungary and across the region".
Aged 45, McQuin has spent seven years as managing director of three Ogilvy & Mather offices Johannesburg, Scotland and Hong Kong. In Johannesburg, he founded and ran Meridian Advertising, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ogilvy & Mather, and built it into a top ten agency in less than four years.
In Hong Kong, he ran the fifth largest office in the Ogilvy & Mather worldwide network.
