OgilvyOne beats Rapier to £35m British Gas DM business

OgilvyOne has landed British Gas' consolidated direct marketing account, worth an estimated £35 million. The agency won the business following a final shoot-out against Rapier.

Both agencies were asked for further information on their pitch proposals last week. The incumbents on the British Gas business, WWAV Rapp Collins and EHS Brann, which have handled the energy and home services accounts respectively since 1994, also competed.

Hall Moore CHI, Tequila and Archibald Ingall Stretton made up the rest of the seven-strong pitchlist.

Amanda Mackenzie, the recently appointed director of brand and marketing at British Gas, said: "The aim of the review was to have one direct marketing agency which was right for the challenges we face today. Every agency that pitched did itself proud and we are delighted to appoint OgilvyOne."
