OglivyOne hires European head

OgilvyOne has hired a new European chief executive officer, Philip Greenfield, from within the company.

OgilvyOne has hired a new European chief executive officer, Philip Greenfield, from within the company.

The move is designed to free up OgilvyOne chairman and worldwide chief executive officer Reimer Thedens to run the entire operation, leaving Greenfield to manage the European arm.

Greenfield joined the Ogilvy Group in Brussels in 1986 and became managing director of O&M Direct in 1988. In 1995 he was promoted to head of O&M and chairman of the network's Belgian companies, and has been building the Interactive business in Europe.

Thedens said: "In 2000, OgilvyOne's billings in Europe exceeded $1bn for the first time. So far, I have run both our worldwide and European businesses, but OgilvyOne deserves a fulltime regional head".
