Anthony Sethill, commercial director of ONdigital, the digital terrestrial TV joint venture between Carlton Communications and Granada Group, has quit the company only a month before its launch.
Sethill was previously managing director of Amstrad Consumer Electronics and it is understood that he wants to return to working in manufacturing. He will be replaced at ONdigital by Jim Ratcliffe, managing director of Granada Home Technology.
Stephen Grabiner, chief executive of ONdigital, said; "Anthony has played a pivotal role in the setting up and launch of ONdigital and we could not have succeeded in getting to the point of being ready to launch without him. I am delighted that Jim has agreed to join us; he will bring invaluable experience of the consumer market."
Ratcliffe was a member of the British Digital Broadcasting Task Force from July 1997 to Jaunary 1998, in the period leading up to ONdigital, then known as British Digital Broadcasting, being granted its licence by the Government.
Sethill was responsible for the appointment of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO to the ONdigital account at the beginning of the year. However, a fall-out with the agency led to the business moving to BMP DDB in August.
ONdigital is due to launch its 30-channel service on 15 November with a £40 million advertising campaign through BMP.
