ONdigital reports higher-than-expected subscriber numbers

The terrestrial broadcaster, jointly owned by Carlton Communications and Granada, had been forecast to hit between 90,000 and 100,000 subscribers by March 31.

In addition Stephen Grabiner, chief executive at ONdigital, said Bush digital TVs with built-in ONdigital access would be available from £499 in June. The cost to ONdigital in marketing support is likely to be £50 per set.

ONdigital also confirmed that it plans to carry Sky Sports 2 as part of its future package and that it will be showing exclusive episodes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale Farm.
