WCRS is understood to have picked up the multi-million pound launch

account for theshare.com, an online share trading service backed by the

investment bank, Goldman Sachs.

The bank is one of a number of major blue-chip companies to have backed

the venture. Although the details of the service are being kept secret,

it is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.

Walker Media will handle media for the campaign and it is understood

that a below-the-line agency has also been appointed. It is not clear

whether competitive pitches took place.

Theshare.com is the latest launch in a new market which is threatening

the future of traditional stockbrokers. Online trading enables individuals

to simply check a share price and key in ’buy’ or ’sell’ to secure a

deal.

Among the company’s rivals is Charles Schwab, the world’s largest

internet stockbroker, which recently appointed Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO

and New PHD to create a TV campaign (Campaign, 24 September).
