Electronic Telegraph is restructuring its sales team as online
strategist Daniel Ward-Lee leaves to join internet sports network
Sportal as commercial manager.
Ward-Lee’s job at Sportal will involve recruiting a sales team, as well
as pulling in more advertising and new partners. ’I’ll be responsible
for maximising revenue generation through e-commerce, advertising and
sponsorship,’ he said. He could not give details of how many sales posts
he will need to fill.
Ward-Lee left Electronic Telegraph on Friday to take up his new
post.
He said there was no immediate announcement about his replacement, but
that a restructure was currently taking place.
He worked at the Telegraph for nine years, initially in traditional
print ad sales, moving into new-media five years ago. He helped to build
Electronic Telegraph’s sales team and in recent months has turned his
attention to developing its range of services.
’We had a team in place, which I managed, but we couldn’t afford to sit
still. My job has been to look forward and develop new channels,’ said
Ward-Lee.
As well as the online newspaper, the Electronic Telegraph division
handles the recruitment service Appointments-Plus and travel site
Planet. Full details of the sales structure have not yet been released,
but are expected to emerge over the next few weeks. Ward-Lee said
Sportal had approached him about the commercial manager post.
