Like Bob Hoskins, long before his ads became a must-change-channels
moment, agencies are giving sales people the message that it’s good to
talk.
First we had Mediapolis inviting a different media owner to set up shop
in its offices every month, and now we have Manning Gottlieb creating a
unit that is focused solely on meeting and greeting sales people.
Not only is it good to see the agencies welcoming such communication, it
is doubly rewarding to see them recognising that the creativity their
clients seek will require partnerships with the media owners - and not
just in over-the-phone negotiation. Manning Gottlieb knows some smart
ideas are being generated in the media sales community, and it has the
sense to want to tap in to them. Let’s hope other agencies follow its
example.
