After graduating from the Sylvia Young Stage School, Rebecca
Williams entered luvviedom as a 14-year-old with a part in Grange
Hill.
’I was in it for two years during the era of Zammo and his drug
escapades. In the school disco scenes we had to dance without music -
that’s why we always looked so crap. It was filmed at Elstree studios
and we used to run into the EastEnders cast in the canteen.’
Partying and blokes distracted Williams from her dreams of a career in
costume drama as the next Helena Bonham-Carter.
’And I decided I didn’t want to be a luvvy. Maybe I should have
persevered. Who knows ...?’
