Alan McCulloch, managing director of new-media agency i-level,

never misses a beat - here’s why

’I was the drummer in the world famous band Action Transfers from the

mid-80s until 1993,’ reveals an unrepentant McCulloch. ’We were named

after those little stick-on tattoos you used to get as kids - we

misguidedly thought the name had a bit of street-cred - and we played

what can only be described as emotional powerpop with a soul

sensibility.

’Our greatest success was the almost-hit The Light (Oh Oh Oh Baby),

which stormed into the top 80, only to disappear the following week when

we were ’penalised for misdemeanours’ due to some fishy goings-on at the

record company.’
