- Office supply and equipment stores business Staples has awarded its £6 million UK media planning and buying business to Optimedia following a competitive pitch.
Optimedia won the business after a four way battle against incumbent agency Zenith Media, TMD Carat and The Media Business Group.
Staples, which already has 41 office supplies and equipment superstores in the UK, has an extensive programme of store opening planned for 1998, with at least ten shops scheduled to open in the coming eight months.
Having initially tested a TV campaign during 1997, Staples will return to TV in 1998 as part of a major through-the-line advertising campaign, which will include radio as well.
Staples' creative business is also currently being reviewed. The incumbent agency is Bates Dorland and a decision is expected shortly.
