Outrider lands £3m Opodo online media and creative deal

Online travel portal Opodo has appointed Outrider to handle its £3m online creative and media account, following a competitive pitch involving several agencies.

The Tempus-owned agency joins Carat International, which was appointed to handle the £30m media account for the portal in August, following a pitch against MindShare, Starcom Motive and OMD UK.

Opodo was launched in June with backing from nine major airlines, including British Airways, Air France and KLM.

Set to begin trading in December, it is understood to have designated £1m in online advertising spend in each of the UK, French and German markets.

The company has also appointed Leagas Delaney to handle the overall creative business.

Opodo is trading at a challenging time for the travel industry following the recent air disasters in the US.
