Paragon buys PC Strategy Games

PC Strategy Player: on sale June 7

Paragon Publishing has continued its expansion into the PC gaming market with the acquisition of PC Strategy Games from Crimson Publishing. The title, which was bought for an undisclosed sum, will be merged with Paragon's Strategy Player.

The new issue of Strategy Player will go on sale on June 7, combining the strengths of both titles and offering gaming readers reviews and previews of the biggest strategy games titles. Each issue will also feature a free CD-Rom with the latest demos and add-ons.

The deal includes the acquisition of the PC Strategy Games website which will be merged into Paragon's existing online portfolio. Mark Simpson, managing director of Paragon, said: "The acquisition of PC Strategy Games represents our further investment into this market and supports our long-term strategy for growth and development." Paragon's recently-launched titles include PC First Aid and Digital Music Maker.

Crimson's managing director, David Lester, said: "The sale of the title frees up management time to enable us to focus on several new launch and acquisition opportunities we are
pursuing in other markets".

The latest title to be launched by Crimson is Growing Business, a business intelligence magazine targeting directors within the UK's fastest growing companies. Set to launch on June 28, the magazine's main competitor is Enterprise magazine from Reed Business
