Pollard has been trying for four weeks to find a buyer for Parkhill's two titles, Aura and Wedding Day, but has so far failed. At launch, advertisers in Aura were given a sales guarantee of 130,000, but the figure has not been met and rebates are due.

The company had been hit by a number of high profile staff defections. Fiona Davidson, the ad director, has been on gardening leave since she resigned two months ago and Aura has had no publisher, ad director or permanent editor for several months.

Parkhill's 25 staff will not receive redundancy payments, although they have been paid up to the end of July.
