Paul Kitcatt to take on creative director job at Bates UK’s 141

Paul Kitcatt, the former managing director of Brann London and

executive creative director of Brann UK, has been signed up to fill the

vacant creative director’s chair at 141 Communications.

Kitcatt will join on Monday as the executive creative director of the

agency, which was created out of the merger of Bates UK’s below-the-line

sisters, the direct marketing outfit, Bates Communications, and the

sales promotion shop, 141.

He left Brann after ten years when he declined a global creative

position in Chicago (Campaign, 13 August).

141 has been seeking a senior creative since the resignation of Chris

Martin, who quit when the merger was announced in July. The role has

since been caretaken by the freelance, Jon Allen.

The signing of someone of Kitcatt’s experience is seen by its chairman,

Graham Green, as a sign that the beleaguered agency is determined to

fight back. He said: ’I’ve strived to recruit the very best, and people

like Paul are few and far between. He was someone who had many options

but could see the colour of our ambition and agrees we can become a

top-five player.’

Kitcatt said: ’I know what I can do, and how well I’ve done in the past.

I would be bored if I just joined a nice, successful agency - how can

you make it better? Everything is there at 141 to make it a great place;

it just hasn’t happened yet.’
