Future has launched a DVD edition of its burgeoning computer
magazine PC Format, in a bid to turn the title into a ’must’ for
advertisers.
PC Format, described by the Bath-based publisher as ’Britain’s best
selling monthly PC leisure magazine’, has always carried CD-Roms, but
around a quarter of the 160,000 print run will now be mounted with a DVD
and will contain DVD-oriented editorial pages. The DVD edition will cost
pounds 5.99, pounds 1 more than the standard PC Format.
Group publisher Jon Bickley said that covermounting a DVD was a powerful
ad sales tool. ’The premium cover price and requirement for a DVD drive
means anyone buying this edition is committed to spending big money on
magazines, kit and games.’
He added: ’Our January issue is always the biggest seller, catching the
pre-Christmas hype and January sales euphoria. With our increased games
coverage and extra DVD edition, the next issue is a must for
advertisers.’
The sales team charged with converting the DVD cover-mount into ad sales
is headed by Jayne Francis, group ad manager, and Paul Hardy, ad
manager.
