The Penguin Shop will offer book lovers a range of ‘unique experiences and events’ throughout the week.
The brand has commissioned illustrator Toby Triumph to create a hand-drawn mural live in store every day between 12pm and 1pm. Guests will be able to draw or write themselves in the Penguin Shop Guest Book, which will be stored in the publisher’s archive alongside a range of literary artefacts.
Visitors will also be able to pick up a limited edition free gift and snap a Penguin Polaroid selfie for a chance to win a bundle of merchandise. The pop-up will also act as a retail stall thanks to a partnership with Waterstones, which will sell books from Penguin’s Modern Classics, Little Black Classics and By Hand range.
The store will be located at Unit 26 on the ground floor of the Shoreditch pop-up space.
Penguin has also announced plans to celebrate its anniversary year with the launch of two orange lorries, which will take to the roads this month. One will make its first-ever trip to deliver stock to the Penguin Shop.
Publisher HarperCollins announced plans to launch a temporary events space in New York back in August.
