Perry rebuilds Nike links as UK chief of Wieden & Kennedy

Mike Perry, the former managing director of Simons Palmer Clemmow

Johnson, is to become the managing director of Wieden & Kennedy’s UK

office when it opens at the start of April.

The appointment follows the announcement last week that Susan Hoffman,

partner and co-creative director of Wieden & Kennedy in Portland,

Oregon, would be taking control of the creative directorship of the

London office. A UK creative chief will be brought in to work with her,

but it is as yet undecided whether this person will sit alongside

Hoffman or report to her.

Perry took charge of the Nike account at Simons Palmer after the agency

won it in 1990. He left the agency a year ago to set up his own

strategic consultancy, Headlight Vision, which, following his

appointment to Wieden & Kennedy, will be run by his partner, Crawford

Hollingworth. Perry will remain a non-executive director of the

consultancy.

Perry said: ’Wieden & Kennedy London is not being set up just to service

Nike. The plan is to build an agency with other bits of business. Dan

Wieden (the agency’s president and creative director) has wanted to set

up a London office for a long time and he is very committed to it. It

will be very much a UK-focused agency.’
