The Oscar-nominated actor Peter O'Toole is indulging his passion
for rugby by appearing in an ad for Zurich Financial Services.
The 60-second film, created by Joshua, shows O'Toole as a wizard who
inspires a little boy to give his entire passion to a game of rugby with
sensational special effects showing a field of fire, exploding stones
and hundreds of wizards.
The ad, in which O'Toole is revealed in the last scene to be the little
boy's grandfather, follows Zurich Financial's move last year to rebrand
Allied Dunbar's sponsorship of the Rugby Premiership by renaming the
Allied Dunbar Premiership as the Zurich Financial Premiership.
The agency has also created a series of ten-second indents to run in
conjunction with the live coverage of the Lions' tour of Australia,
which starts on 8 June.
The Lions team is made up of players from England, Scotland, Ireland and
Wales. Zurich is expected to keep the main ad running until the end of
The campaign is Joshua's first TV work for Zurich Financial, which it
won at the end of last year. It is also the first time Zurich Financial
has used TV in the UK. Until now the agency's work on the account has
been in the press.
The film was directed by Thomas Krygier through Krygier Hirschkorn. It
was written by Eddie Haydock and art directed by Andy Ray. Media is
through John Ayling & Associates.
