Ian Darby is a big McDonald's fan after seeing their latest ad but Jeremy Lee isn't laughing after watching Sainsbury's Comic Relief ads.

Ian Darby feels energised after watching Leo Burnett’s latest TV spot for McDonald’s: "Leo Burnett’s work for McDonald’s in the past year or two has been back to its best and this TV ad, to promote the sale of a new fruit-based Fanta drink, continues that trend. The performance from the ebullient children is thoroughly charming and it’s beautifully shot and edited." The ad was written and art directed by Caroline Rawlings and Chris Birch, and directed by Neil Gorringe through Moxie Pictures.


Jeremy Lee despairs over Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO’s ad for Sainsbury’s: "This spot promoting Sainsbury’s efforts for the enforced hilarity of Red Nose Day irritates me on so many levels. Its otherwise credible spokesman Jamie Oliver promises that ‘the more red noses we buy, the sillier we’ll get’. This silliness consists of making its staff dress up in fancy dress. Personally, I’d rather Sainsbury’s improved its trading terms with its suppliers. But perhaps that would be too silly."
