In pictures: Lidl unveils Spanish pop-up eatery

Supermarket brand Lidl unveiled its first pop-up restaurant in Spain over the weekend.

Located at the Capitol Cinema in Madrid, the restaurant was open for four days, from 25-28 November, and aimed to offer diners a live gastronomic experience. Lidl also wanted to showcase its 'Deluxe' premium range of food in the run-up to Christmas, with a menu created by Michelin star chef Sergi Arola and featuring dishes from the range.

The restaurant, which could seat up to 60 people at a time, had a set menu priced at 10 euros, with a choice of starters, four main courses and two desserts. More than 1,000 enjoyed the dining experience over the four days, with people booking in advance or joining a waiting list on the day.

All proceeds from the project #Lidlenelcapitol were donated to charity.

Earlier this year, Lidl paid homage to Scottish mussels with a three-day interactive culinary event. Tesco meawhile launched its first pop-up wine bar in Soho over the summer.
