In pictures: Mars targets students at experiential roadshow

Food brand Mars UK launched its graduate recruitment 'Tweetshop' for the third successive year on Monday (22 January), at Nottingham University.

Working with agency Tonic, Mars will challenge students at seven universities to win a trip to New York, drive social media engagement among new graduate talent and inspire participants to consider graduate careers at Mars.

Students will be tested on their collaboration skills in the interactive activation. Working in pairs, one will be tasked with a dance-mat challenge that drives the speed of a conveyer belt of products. Their partner will then have to remember as many of the products as possible, in a Generation Game-style scenario against the clock.

The Tweetshop element has been designed to get participants ‘swapping’ tweets using the hashag #marstweetshop to receive codes that can unlock prizes from a bespoke vending machine. Famous faces from Mars such as Red from M&Ms and Papa Dolmio will also be making appearances at the on-campus events.

Students outside of the seven chosen locations will also be able to join in the campaign and compete for prizes through the new DanceMarsters app.

Andrew Sharp, graduate talent manager at Mars UK, said: "We are looking to recruit the brightest and best talent for our Graduate programmes – people who could go on to be the future leaders of our business. Now in its third year, our unique Tweetshop is proving a real success as an innovative way to engage students with our brands, our culture and the range of career opportunities we have on offer.

"Mars has a very open, collaborative and creative approach, so we’re drawing upon those skills through the Tweetshop concept extension. Not only could students win a trip to New York, it could be the start of their journey towards a hugely rewarding career at Mars."

The Mars Tweetshop will visit these universities on the following dates:

4 February – Exeter University

5 February – Leeds University

6 February – Manchester University

10 February – Birmingham University

12 February – London School of Economics

13 February – Bath University
