Last year, AND created a centralised ad sales unit to sell display advertising across its own sites, and now it wants to use its expertise to sell space for third parties.
Andy Hart, the managing director of AND, said that one area of growth for AND would come from "leveraging the sales team to win other business". Hart said that AND's experience in dealing with more than 10,000 advertisers across its various sites would make it well placed to act for other site owners.
The move is one of several ways in which Hart will try to grow AND's revenues in 2007. He is also considering making acquisitions as well as launching new sites to add to AND's 103-strong portfolio, which includes Associated's newspaper websites, the "thisis" network, and acquisitions such as Jobsite.co.uk.
Hart added: "Anything we do will be thoughtful and considered. We like to see the revenues before we invest heavily."
