Pitch update: Ikea splits with Lida, Chivas Regal, Ford, Nivea

Ongoing pitches

Ikea's seven-year relationship with Lida is about to end after the agency was knocked out of the pitch process for the retailer's UK and Ireland CRM account. After a first round of pitches between four agencies, Proximity and DigitasLBi have made it through to a final round of pitching to be held in mid-December. Lida and MRM Meteorite are now out of the running. Ikea is expected to appoint its new agency before Christmas.

Chivas Regal has shortlisted four agencies for its UK advertising business: Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Crispin Porter Bogusky, McCann London and Wieden & Kennedy. Last week Campaign reported that Havas, the incumbent, is no longer in the running. 

Final pitches were held this week for Northgate's advertising account. 18 Feet & Rising, Creature, Fold7 and VCCP are awaiting a result. AAR is handling the pitch and there is no incumbent. 

New-business rankings: creative accounts


WPP's global partnership with Ford, the marcoms giant's biggest global client, is being reviewed and may be extended – although final decisions have not been made.

Lastminute.com has appointed Publicis London to its pan-European creative ad account, following the travel brand's split with FCB Inferno only months into the relationship.

Initiative has won Lego's global media account after a review. The business moves from Carat in Europe and Starcom in the US.

Hilton Worldwide has hired TBWA as its global creative agency partner on a new brief across the group's hotel brands, following a closed review. The appointment does not affect Fold7, which remains on the global roster and is responsible for revenue-generating campaigns such as last year's "Stop clicking around".

Maserati has appointed Accenture Interactive as its global experience agency of record. There is no incumbent.

Beiersdorf has appointed Cheil London as its UK digital agency for Nivea and Nivea Men after a review. The business moves from AKQA.

Droga5 London has won Bulk Powders' global ad account without a pitch. It is the first time the protein supplements brand has appointed a creative agency and Droga5 will handle advertising across 13 markets including the UK and Germany.

Car-buying website CarWow has given Creature its creative ad account after a competitive pitch with new work due to launch on Boxing Day. The incumbent agency is Big Al’s Creative Emporium.

Creature has also picked up the ad account for ready-made meal brand Charlie Bighams after a competitive pitch. The brand had previously worked with Contagious London since 2014.

UM has retained Marie Curie's media business after pitching against Maxus. The Interpublic agency has held the account since 2010, when notably it fought off Maxus then too.
