101, which handled the above-the-line business, has pulled out of the process, while Elvis is repitching and defending its online, social and in-store account. The pitch, which is being run by The Observatory International, is expected to conclude by August.

The pitches for Nationwide’s media account took place last week. Britain’s biggest building society put its estimated £20m business up for review in May. Those in the running are believed to include incumbent Havas Media, MEC, Starcom and the7stars. Havas Media has handled the planning and buying since 2008. Nationwide’s new chief marketing officer, Sara Bennison, is leading the pitch.

Tissue meetings for Marks & Spencer’s integrated account are taking place this week. The all-day briefing for agencies was held a fortnight ago and shops had follow-up meetings last week. Pitches are expected to kick off in August. Only agencies in which WPP has a stake are competing for the business, which went up for review in May. Grey London, The & Partnership (in which WPP has a 49% stake) and VCCP (which is 20%-owned by WPP) are in the running, as is 16-year incumbent Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R.
