Pitch update

With confusion still reigning supreme at COI, it's reassuring to hear that the Department of Health is keeping agencies busy as the organisation opens talks with shops regarding its advertising arrangements. Meetings have now been scheduled as the DH reviews its roster and it is looking likely that a pitch will determine the agency that handles the £14 million Change4Life campaign, currently with M&C Saatchi.

Harveys, the furniture store, has compiled a shortlist of four agencies to pitch for its business this Thursday and Friday. The AAR has handled the process and TBWA\Manchester, HMDG, Beta and Hooper Galton will contest the account.

The Royal Mail's financial issues (it posted a £120 million loss earlier this week) won't have put much cheer into the hearts of those agencies lining up to pitch for its advertising business. But they may take some solace from the fact that the competition has narrowed somewhat, as the Royal Mail's above-the-line incumbent, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, has decided not to repitch for the account. A formal tender was issued to agencies earlier this week, and those interested have until 24 June to register their intent on pitching for the business.

The AAR has selected around six agencies to continue to the chemistry meeting stage for the Majestic Wines media planning and buying review. UM London, MediaCom and ZenithOptimedia are among the agencies to make it through. Majestic is also in the process of drawing up a creative shortlist.
