No surprises about which agencies the upmarket travel company Abercrombie & Kent has asked to pitch for its business. Step forward the luxury specialists Leagas Delaney and M&C Saatchi. Pitches are expected to conclude at the end of this week.
Get ready to watch Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO climb up the new-business league table. Not only has it picked up the £15 million Birds Eye business, but also Sainsbury's Bank, claimed to be worth £10 million (although it spent closer to £3.3 million in 2006).
Media networks are reporting that Estee Lauder's £70 million global pitch is being put on hold. It seems some of the competing networks are preoccupied by the giant Johnson & Johnson contest.
Meanwhile, ICI's paints division, which has invited MediaCom, Initiative and OMD to fight for its pan-European business, has scheduled pitches for August. That'll be a few holidays cancelled then.
Pathe's media pitch is back on track, with presentations taking place this week and next. The pitch had been put on hold for the Cannes Film Festival - lah-di-dah. That's more than can be said for the Axa media pitch. Agencies are still scratching their heads over that one. Is there a shortlist? Is there a pitch? Nobody knows.
