Six weeks to go, and it's all to play for in the new-business league.

Debt Free Direct may not have been Carat's most glamorous win, but it has propelled the media agency into pole position, overtaking Mediaedge:cia by a whisker. Below the line, a flurry of wins from Rapier has knocked OgilvyOne into second place. Can Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO or Bartle Bogle Hegarty do the same to Fallon? It would take a pretty hefty month of new business.

News International has shortened its search for a digital agency to just three. Expect a result shortly. Meanwhile, after being kicked out into the cold by CHI & Partners, the Telegraph Group is taking an introspective look at its marketing operations before scheduling meetings with advertising agencies.

Chemistry meetings: Pfizer is understood to have narrowed its search for a direct marketing agency down to WWAV Rapp Collins and TMW, with Tequila out of the running. BASF is reading through tender documents, and will be inviting agencies in for credentials pitches later this month.

Meanwhile, the Learndirect pitch should be wrapped up by the end of the year. All documents for the below-the-line review need to be submitted by 23 November, with pitches scheduled for the first week of December. Digital agency pitches are due to follow two weeks later.
