Pitch update

The Waitrose pitch is reaching a climax, with presentations kicking off this week. It seems that the shortlist, however, is not that short; we're hearing that a seventh agency is now involved.

It's not really surprising, however. Waitrose has got to be one of the best accounts to work on just now. The question is: will CHI & Partners' strong relationship with the managing director, Mark Price, shine through?

Two agencies have been shortlisted for the £2.5 million National Blood Service account, which is being pitched by COI. Two COI stalwarts, Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners (the incumbent) and Farm, will see their work go into research. Lowe & Partners and St Luke's were knocked out following pitch presentations last week.

Now you know pitch times are bad when you get agencies including VCCP, Beattie McGuinness Bungay, Farm and Krow competing for Pets at Home. Not only that, but the AAR is overseeing the process. Surely there are better briefs out there?

Agencies are beginning to quiver; it seems Bartle Bogle Hegarty's pitch- losing streak is well and truly over. First ITV and now LG Electronics show the agency is back on form.

Bah humbug! Pitches for Visit Britain are scheduled for 19 December. So when is everyone meant to do their Christmas shopping?
