Pitch update

It seems that Phones 4u is postponing its pitch. We understand it will kick off again in January 2009.

The reason being circulated is that the retailer needs a November campaign and will get the incumbent, WCRS, to do that. Oh no! Does that mean we can expect more of those ads full of strange-looking yokels?

Euro RSCG has been officially removed from the global Stella pitch. Nails at Mother and Publicis are being bitten to the quick in advance of another round of pitching, to be concluded by the end of this week.

Boots has shortlisted Lida, Partners Andrews Aldridge and Proximity to contest its direct marketing account. The pitch is scheduled for 28 October.

The global digital distribution account for Nokia appears to have shortlisted four shops. Step forward Euro RSCG 4D, JWT in conjunction with RMG, and Wunderman.

Rumours are abounding around Initiative's Tesco account. We hear that at least three media shops have presented to the retailer over the past few weeks, but that enthusiasm for a pitch has waned. Sources say Tesco has decided that fighting, and winning, a price war must take priority.

And finally ... Paddy Power is planning to reveal a shortlist of four advertising agencies on 3 October.
