Pitch update

After a three-month hiatus, Project Kangaroo, the proposed video-on-demand service from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, is back on the hunt for an agency.

It has shortlisted three advertising and three digital shops, despite still awaiting the final verdict of the Competition Commission that is due in February next year.

Vizeum and Rocket are through to the final stages of the P&O Cruises media pitch, after Starcom and Carat were eliminated this week. Given the current climate, whichever agency has to work with Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy on selling lavish cruises to a cash-strapped public is going to face quite a challenge.

Meanwhile, in the comparatively dry world of car insurance, Comparethemarket has shortlisted Beattie McGuinness Bungay, McCann Erickson and VCCP to vie for its account. Final pitches are scheduled for later this month.

Contrary to reports, the incumbent Euro RSCG insists that it's still a contender for the £9 million advertising account for The Sun. WCRS, Fallon and The Red Brick Road have all completed their first round of pitches, while Euro RSCG will be hoping that its recent "All for just 30p" campaign has hit the right spot with the marketing department.

And finally ... Canon is tinkering with its £50 million pan-European planning and buying arrangements following Mediaedge:cia's decision not to repitch for the business. Five networks have been whittled down to three.
