Pitch update

Nationwide is wasting no time in getting its advertising review up and running.

It's already talking to agencies about pitching for its £10 million business. The company is considering giving agencies including Mother, Adam & Eve, Euro RSCG and Karmarama the chance to kill off Mark Benton's rip-off bank manager character.

As one list is put together, another is slashed down. Comparethemarket.com has dumped McCann Erickson from its pitch, leaving just Beattie McGuinness Bungay and VCCP, the incumbent, in a last-man-standing battle. VCCP will be trying its hardest to forget the ING pitch it lost earlier this year to the same agency.

Five months after initially approaching agencies, Christian Aid is finally moving forward with its pitch plans. It has re-contacted a number of shops through the AAR and is planning a pitch for some time in the next few weeks.

The Boots DM review strolls steadily on as Lida, Partners Andrews Aldridge and Proximity all completed pitches on Tuesday of this week.

And it does seem that the new-business market may be about to haul itself out of the doldrums. The AAR now has a new retail client to add to the elusive retailer that has been gossiped about for weeks; Agency Assessments has a car brand and The Observatory has an international lifestyle brand. We'll keep you posted.
