Pitch update

The ad world is on tenterhooks as to who has made the shortlist for the Sony Europe pitch. Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, TBWA and Publicis have all failed to make the cut. And to add insult to injury, Ben Moore (the Sony client) was rumoured to have used a meeting room at Publicis, before speaking at an AAR event, to discuss which agencies were going to get through.

The four agencies awaiting news of a Young's result - Bartle Bogle Hegarty, JWT, Mother and WCRS - have been told that they'll have to hold on just a little longer as the winner is going to be announced in the next couple of days.

And the pitches for Pilgrims Choice, the cheddar cheese brand, are taking place at the end of this week. VCCP, Campbell Lace Beta, WCRS and the incumbent, WFCA, are the agencies that have been shortlisted.

Vestas, the Danish wind power solutions brand, has shortlisted four agencies to pitch for its estimated £60 million global creative business. Euro RSCG, Naked, Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R and Saatchi & Saatchi have held initial meetings and are now working on pitches to blow the client away.

In direct marketing, the Pensions Regulator has delayed its pitch to find a DM agency by two weeks and in the process revealed the name of all 23 agencies involved in an e-mail that didn't blind copy the recipients. It's a varied list, from Joshua G2, Archibald Ingall Stretton, Targetbase Claydon Heeley, Partners Andrews Aldridge and Chemistry to Ruby Agency, Presky Maves, Crazy Horse and Dig for Fire - now they all know who they're up against.

And finally... brace yourselves, but the hotly anticipated pitches for the Mushroom Bureau, the UK body responsible for promoting fresh cultivated mushrooms, have taken place this week. Five undisclosed agencies are on the shortlist, with a decision due to be made before the end of the month.
