Pollard quits Ingram for Naked role

Naked hires Ivan Pollard to help steer agency through international growth.

Ivan Pollard, a partner at Ingram, is joining Naked Communications as its fourth partner. He will receive an undisclosed stake in Naked, which was launched in July 2000 by Will Collin, John Harlow and Jon Wilkins.

Pollard joined Ingram in 2003 when its founder, Chris Ingram, acquired Pollard's planning consultancy Unity. As part of the deal, Pollard was tied into the agency until July. Andy Tilley, Pollard's partner in Unity, and five others who joined Ingram from Unity remain with the company.

Pollard, who will join Naked in January, said: "I'm sad to be leaving the people behind, but I am excited about the company I'm joining. I'll really miss Andy Tilley."

Collin, who worked with Pollard at BMP in the early 90s, described him as "the natural fourth partner" for Naked. Pollard will help to bolster Naked's team at a time when its other partners are handling its expansion in markets such as Australia, The Netherlands and the US. He will also work on key accounts such as Coca-Cola and Nokia.

Chris Ingram expressed sadness at Pollard's departure, but said the increasingly high-end and international focus of the agency had frustrated Pollard: "Our projects are nearly always before the advertising kicks in and many are US or multinational clients, so to an extent Ivan missed the interface he'd had before with marketing. I'm genuinely sorry to see him go, he's a talent and a nice guy."

Ingram, which launched in New York in August and is planning to add one more international office, has retained clients including BT, COI and Mercedes-Benz.
