Mandy Pooler, the former chief executive of MindShare UK, is to take an overarching strategic role with WPP's media operations, as well as a senior job at The Media Edge, Young & Rubicam's media operation. Meanwhile, MindShare is recruiting OMD's Ian Lomas to bolster its senior management team.
Pooler's key job will be to work across WPP's various media and research offerings in a central strategic role. She will try to bring the various media companies, including MindShare, The Media Edge and Media Insight, closer together. She will be based at WPP's Hays Mews office.
She will take the post of non-executive chairman of The Media Edge. The network ousted Paul Woolmington, its former strategic officer and vice-chairman, in January.
Pooler stepped down from her MindShare post in January. She was replaced by Simon Rees, the agency's managing director, who joined from Carat two years ago.
MindShare is in advanced talks with Lomas about taking a senior management role, reporting to Rees. Lomas is a managing partner at OMD and head of broadcast.
Pooler has worked for WPP for the majority of her career. She headed MindShare since its launch in 1998 and saw it grow to become the UK's fifth-largest media agency.
Before that she spent more than a decade at Ogilvy & Mather, joining in 1982 and becoming the managing director of O&M Media in 1994 before rebranding it as The Network. MindShare had a good year in 2000, winning pounds 157 million in new business from Boots, Volvo and Nike.
Pooler refused to comment on her role at WPP. Lomas was unavailable for comment as Campaign went to press.
