D’Arcy has promoted John Poorta to planning director, replacing Max
Burt, who left the agency last year.
Poorta takes on the new role with immediate effect and will join the
agency’s executive committee. The committee includes Barry Cook,
managing director; Nick Hastings, creative director; Nigel Marsh, client
services director and Marjorie Pinsley, deputy managing director.

Poorta joined D’Arcy’s account management team 20 years ago and later
rose to become board director.
In 1990 he moved into the agency’s planning department, working on the
Budweiser and Umbro accounts.
Recently, he has worked on the agency’s Tetley business and several
Government initiatives, including the ’See the Person’ disability
