PPA in drive to raise profile of UK magazines overseas

LONDON - The PPA is embarking on a marketing drive to raise awareness of UK magazines among overseas publishers interested in doing licensing deals.

Its Licensing Group, created in response to the rapid growth in licensing activity, will explore issues relating to the licensing of magazine brands and content.

A key priority is to communicate the benefits to overseas markets of doing business with UK publishers. Activity will play on the content and high production values of UK publishing.

Chris Llewellyn, the PPA Licensing Group chairman and managing director of EMAP International, said: "In setting up the PPA's Licensing Group, we want to reinforce, collectively, what all the members of the licensing group have been doing individually, and promote the strengths of our industry and the ease of doing business with British publishers."

Tours of overseas markets, including Japan, will form a key part of the drive.
