Pret ties up with Maldon Sea Salt

Pret A Manger has joined forces with Maldon Salt to introduce a 'More than Mozzarella' sandwich in its first third-party sandwich tie. The sandwich will be promoted via shelf advertising in the chain's 130 UK shops. It is the chain's first branded extension since the introduction of Green & Blacks chocolate and ice cream to its stores.

Simon Hargreaves, commercial director of Pret A Manger UK, told Marketing the company was constantly on the look-out for tie-ups with premium brands to differentiate itself.

From 1999 to 2003 Pret rival Subway quadrupled its UK presence from 38 outlets to more than 150. Pret's growth rate over the same period was a more modest 65% to 130 outlets.
